I am so pleased to be joining the excellent team at Hook Dental. My name is Charlotte Cocks and I have been asked to say bit about myself, by way of introduction.
I had an unusual start in life, I was born in the remote West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, where my father was a country Vicar. His parish was 150 miles long, with one service a month requiring a flight in a small plane.
It is my work as a dentist that has brought me to the UK many times in my life-including study for a Master of Science degree in Advanced General Dental Practice from Birmingham University. I graduated with distinction, with the class award. I completed in 2016. The study was energising, and I left feeling confident that I was working in accordance with the latest evidence based treatments. I enjoy working as a dentist very much. I take particular pleasure in aiming for a really good cosmetic result, as well as thinking in the long term. It makes such a difference, where possible, for a person to keep as many of their teeth as possible into old age, and that is also my aim.
I adore living in Hampshire- I live in Winchester and the city and countryside are very different from the rugged countryside I grew up with. I resonate with Blake’s phrase ‘England’s green and pleasant land” Surely he was describing Hampshire! I enjoy fossicking around exploring historical sites. I love to cycle and draw. I have done a psychotherapy qualification which has expanded the way I think about most things. I have a husband here, children and grandchildren both in the UK and in New Zealand.
